The Vancouver Observer (VO) is a news website that features award-winning investigative reporting, and national, regional and city news reporting. An independent news site that serves millions each year, the VO makes it a priority to go where the silence is. They put a spotlight on corporate and government abuses of power and tell stories of hundreds of ordinary people confronting extraordinary challenges with a strong focus on energy projects. The VO does all of this with just a fraction of the budget and staff of a corporate news company.
Together with Codename Design, I developed a complete redesign for the VO, and made the site responsive, to allow people to use it comfortably on mobile devices. We also added a Special Reports section, that allows for the grouping of content, and lets the VO raise funds around a specific reporting topic.
